Here is diagram of 2 different array sound wave dispersion.
The one on the left is the traditional cluster of cabinets with directivity HF horn. The one on the right is what they call Fresnel horn .The fresnel type is more uniform and permits a greater amount of arraying.

Anyone have any recommendations for good in depth reading on horn design theory?

The best in depth reading pertains to the type of system you will be using and how you will be using it. There is no perfect system. Each one is very complicated with knowledge of physics
required. It involves mathematical formulas.
So wether it is cluster the first studied system.
or the vertical line array by 7 notable physicians of which at least 2 are from l'acoustic.
The best thing would be to read their papers and biographies.

I'm looking not so much for the system level, as I am for the actual horn design. I.e. constant directivity, exponential, tractrix. Physics and mathematics welcomed and encouraged!

I certainly can't say I didn't get an answer to my question, now can I? I'm figuring on spending a little time getting to know the subject, we'll see how far I get! (but not tonight, I've got work to do tomorrow.
Anyone else has suggestions, they'll certainly be entertained as well!
Thanks!
